No more Permits!

Facts about mining in Oregon.

No more Permits! -

Postby cloudwalker on Thu Jun 03, 2010 6:24 am

I have spent way more hours researching and obtaining Oregon mining permits that I have been prospecting lately. All I want to do is bring my family to Oregon and do a little panning and sluicing. How many agencies are trying to regulate the same thing? The folder I have full of regulations and permits weighs more than my pan.
I am finished trying to jump through hoops for something that is my right to do. Starting next Thursday, I will be in Southern Oregon mining. If anyone would like to join me, just send a PM.

I would have never guessed that California (where sluices aren't questioned) may be my sanctuary from the mining Nazis.

I will be staying in Brookings. The current plan is to sample the rivers North to the Rouge and South to the Klamath in CA. I also plan on some beach mining near Brookings.
I have noticed how involved staking a claim is. I have my eye on a spot on the Winchuck River, but I'll have to see if it's worth it.

I'm going down on the 22nd, so I won't know if I'm getting into anything for a day or two after that. That's too bad, wouldn't have minded a visit or showing up to see what you were up to. Might actually get pushed back later depending on work. Hope you have a great time and find some good spots.
