They usually do but it's one of those things that can make as much as someone is willing to pay since it's usually private collectors who are interested in nuggets and unique specimens etc...

In my opinion that is a beautifull nugget and would sell well over spot price!!

But it all depends on who's looking when it's for sale.

I feel somewhat ashamed and dirty as I sold the nugget already. I received an offer that was good in my opinion and took it.

Been at it for 15 years now and just sold some nice nuggies for the first time. Pretty much my whole collection is going for my son's college, but the local mining club wanted some for there special events, so I sold some. Such is life! [/quote]

Didn't need the cash but did see it as an opportunity I could use to upgrade my arsenal of equipment and gear.

BEWARE OF THIS "PROSPECTOR" HE"S A total liar and thief. The "nugget found" was done so by his father years ago...i know because his dad just told me so...he also has "his own" 4 inch...piece o crap jobe HB etc...turns out he doesnt own a dredge and the highbanker belongs to his dad. His dad told me that his son is on drugs...has had a drug and lying problem for years, and that i am not the first person he's screwed over...

I posted that I wanted a prospecting partner...not a drug addict lying little thief that pretends to find gold...feel really duped and upset...we were working a hole down at dole that was paying and all the sudden he says he has to go because his sister in law had an episode and he had to run home and take care of her kids...in mid dig !! I felt bad and we ended up leaving. the plan was to turn around and go back the next day...or go and work his "honey hole" which doesnt exist btw...thru close scrutiny, one can tell that that pic of the "deep pool" is of LNF santiam at the bridge people jump off of
Anyhow, we're back here...and I'm getting text messages from him pushing things back a day...two days etc...this morning I get a text that his sister and law committed suicide and that I was being insensitive to his family problems and that mining wasnt that important...i smelled bs...so i drive all the way down to salem....feeling like a jerk because what if his sister really did kill herself and then here i am showing up the day after trying to get my cut....turns out...none of it was true and the guy had his dad, drive him BACK DOWN TO DOLE the very next day....he's been texting me from dole, pretending to be in salem...whilst down at dole digging the rest of it....

just avoid the guy is all im saying...

Whoa! If this can be verified then I see no reason to continue to allow him to be part of this site. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is his dad a member here?

Also, that nugget is clearly nowhere near the claimed weight. I never paid attention to that until now, but I just posted a pic of a 2.5dwt nugget, and the nugget in this thread is roughly the same size and shape. At best I'd give it 3dwt. A gram is roughly 15.4gr, and one dwt is 24gr. Do the math.

Zactly man. I kept going to LNF w/ him and he keep using his HOT SPOT as bait. I know he prospected with nantermuffin (not sure how you spell it) and according to him, they had a bad interaction...but his stance was it was natermuffin who was a know it all a-hole. I can't prove that he's lied on this post per se...but I can prove how he pretended to be in salem for a week trying to sell my platinum...while the whole time he was/is actually at dole.
I REALLY want revenge...the guy cost me 15 days of income and time. Now I have to SOMEHOW figure out how to make 30 days of income in less than 14...His doing not mine...is it right that he just gets away with that?! You can't just go and punch people these days man...that's what I'd like to do...but I REALLY don't want to go to jail when the sniveling little bitc# presses charges for assault...that wouldn't be any kind of justice for me. but man, do I feel duped and screwed over.

Ya I'd love that as well, but honestly, its my word against his, so w/o solid proof, I don't think they would do that.
His dad just called me an hr ago or so and told me he's still down there...so if anyone ends up at dole this weekend steer clear...haha oh and grab my platinum, ill split it w/ya...haha

So, this guys parents are really angry w/their kid and have been keeping in touch w/me while they try and get me my share of what was found. this morning they called me and told me they had the cons and I should drive out and split them. Turns out there was around 5 grams of it...no where NEAr what we left with, but I walked away w/ 3 grams or so...which is WAY better than nothing...thank goodness for decent people (his parents)...they went out of their way to TRY and make it right for me, even tho they had nothing to do w/ it! Really sweet couple, and I feel really bad for them having to deal w/all of this bs their son caused.

I'm sorta happy w/it now...but it coulda been WAY better
