Good find there. Hope you can keep it underwraps so your new area to play doesn't get infested.

I've kept it so secret I don't even remember where it is  lol... Nah, I got that spot marked on my GPS.

This points out the importance of not overlooking the small spots in a rush to get to where "everyone else is finding gold". There is a lot out there that hasn't been found simply because nobody has looked. Many people ask "where can I Get gold and many of them never try to Find gold. Well done sir, you didn't get, you found, that's the way it should be done.

Thank you... It sure was a different feeling seeing gold in the pan from this spot rather than gold in the pan from Quartzville, LNF etc... Gave me a much greater appreciation for prospecting.

Very nice job. It takes sampling abouts to find it. People want easy ways and known places. It is the unlocated places that were prospected for that do the best return often.

Keep us posted on progress. 1.5 grams from 2 buckets isn't bad at all, 40 buckets to 1 oz at that rate.

The really encouraging thing is these samples were close to the surface. I'm heading back up to the spot in about an hour. I am bringing a small sluice and am going to push further up the creek.

I'll be posting pics late tonight or tomorrow of what I found during my weekend outing to this spot. I have officially hit a pay-streak and stumbled upon some place special.

Can't wait to see the pics.

Just proves that there is still great, "undiscovered" gold in the North Cascades. Gives me hope.

there are tons of places that have good values but were overlooked at the beginning of development of an area due to new discoveries and never returned to. one of my best places lies in one of these areas. a tip i have found useful is to look for the areas of earliest development in an area, small creeks. ect... thats just me though.

The rule on fill/removal (your question about takling home buckets is:

State Scenic Waterway select definitions
• Dredging means to dig, gather or pull out
with a machine.
• Prospecting/Recreational Prospecting
means to search or explore for samples
of gold, silver or other precious minerals,
using non-motorized methods, by filling,
removing or moving by artificial means less
than one cubic yard of material at any one
individual site and, cumulatively, not more
than five cubic yards of material from within
the bed or wet perimeter of any single scenic waterway in a single year.

Less than one cubic yard at any single location. I copied that definition from the state of Oregons website. Hope that answers your question.
